synopsis

What do you do when the source of all your problems is the one thing you don’t know how to fix?

With Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell nothing more than an unpleasant memory, US Army surgeon Sabine Fleischer is ready to move on with her life―if she can just figure out how to move past her PTSD. Fresh from her first deployment since surviving a vehicle attack in Afghanistan, Sabine is finding the things she’s tried so hard to push aside aren’t as easy to ignore as she’d hoped.

Sabine’s girlfriend and ex-commanding officer Rebecca Keane is happily settled into her new job running a trauma department in a civilian hospital. Life with Sabine is everything Rebecca ever wanted. But when Sabine’s PTSD reappears worse than before, she’s left struggling with her own guilt.

There’s no doubt that both Sabine and Rebecca want the same thing. But how do you help the most important person in your life when they don’t want to need your help?

  • omf this was just everything ‐ literally everything I felt the author could’ve added to the first book was in this like she literally nailed it
  • The way her characters are so consistent is something that I freaking love and is unmatched ‐ I feel like a lot of other authors have their characters do things that do not make sense for the character that they built but Noyes doesn’t do that and I love her for that
  • Her writing style is just so amazing and captivating it feels like she put so much time and effort into this even though I don’t know if she did or not which I love
  • Absolutely loved that this switched between Sabine AND Rebecca’s POV getting Rebecca’s perspective really opened up the story and made it better also helped me to connect to Rebecca more and I ended up loving her just as much as Sabine she so sweet and loyal
  • This was paced very well she knows just when to up the angst and tension and when to resolve conflicts
  • The book is mainly about Sabine dealing with w/ her PTSD ‐ she wants to deal w/ it herself but obviously that doesn’t work out so great ‐ the way that Noyes portrayed Sabine and her struggles with anxiety was just so spot on an accurate / honest to what I’ve experienced at least ‐ and the description of the PTSD and the her delusion, quirks, and lowkey OCD was just done so well I don’t have experience w/ those things myself but it felt so genuine, believable, and accurate to me at least
  • I also loved how easily accepted Rebecca’s was into Sabine’s family ‐ it was so sweet to see Rebecca getting to feel like she was apart of a family and honestly she deserved it she’s literally the best
  • Would 100% read again
  • Sabine helping the veteran
  • Rebecca’s talk w/ Sabine’s Dad
  • Proposal
  • Dinner w/ Mitch and Amy
