synopsis

When your first girlfriend is the only one you’ve ever loved, how can anyone compete?

Princess Teddy Buckingham has felt the pressure of her destiny since she could first understand it, and finding someone to love when you’re an object of interest to the whole country is nearly impossible. Teddy learned that the hard way when her childhood sweetheart broke her heart by leaving when the attention became overwhelming.

Summer Fisher congratulates herself on dodging a bullet as she watches Princess Teddy’s latest love affair hit the news. Teddy was her first love, and now that Teddy’s been with woman after woman, it appears Summer made a lucky escape. It doesn’t help that Summer is a friend and PA to Teddy’s sister Anna. She has tried to keep her distance as much as she can, but it isn’t easy.

Queen Georgina instructs Teddy to work with Anna on a project that will launch Teddy as the new Princess of Wales. As Summer and Teddy are forced to work together, their feelings for each other resurface. Teddy’s royal profile gets stronger, and so does the public scrutiny that broke them apart. Will life under the microscope make love impossible?

  • good book really kept me engaged and on my toes
  • Literally nothing keeps me more engaged then despising the “villains” of the story and goddamn Pandora was just annoying af
  • The writing style wasn’t the best but the overall plot of the story was what kept me in it ‐ just waiting and waiting and waiting for Summer and Teddy to get back together had me feeling all sorts of shit ‐ I’m honestly a huge sucker for friends to lovers and second chance on top of that agh this had me speeding through this
  • That being said Teddy and Summer’s romance wasn’t really the main focus of this story I would say it was more character driven for both girls and them finding their true selves again and facing their fears which brought them back together at the very end (even if it was a bit corny *pun intended ;)*)
  • I liked the actual style of her writing my issues came w/ the flow at points of the storysometimes one characters perspective would flow right into another’s without a clear break and it made things confusing on whose thoughts / perspective the story was in at points ‐ this is something that was common in a lot of early 2000’s third person limited books that I read but for this being published in 2024 it felt like maybe lazy writing or editing??
  • I really did like the plot of this story and how it switched perspectives (when the switches were made clear by page breaks) ‐ with all the different POV’s it gave it more of a TV show like feel ‐ I felt like I was watching a show about their family with a focus on Teddy and her life vs just reading another romance ‐ definitely want to go back and read her mom’s book now
  • I do feel like this story was cut veery short and rushed at the end there were a couple of plot lines established throughout the book that didn’t get a proper ending ‐ for example Pandora and her plotting ‐ Crawford and his plotting ‐ Summer and Teddy’s plans ‐ I feel like there could be a whole nother book or at least another 100ish pages about this but there probably won’t be which make ‐ this kind of of leaves you with a little bit of an empty feeling feeling at the end bc there’s so much more you want from this book and these characters
  • Not sure if I would read again ‐ probably not but this did make me want to bing read all of her royalty books
  • Flashbacks
  • Beach scene
  • Teddy dumping Pandora
  • Teddy and Summer’s talks alone
  • Teddy staying at Summer’s apartment

‐ Teddy telling her family about Summer
