synopsis
Eight years, one divorce, and a second chance to make it right—if only they can find the right words.
Alicia Burton hasn’t set foot in Jackson Point since her divorce. But when her pregnant best friend is going home, Alicia ends up heading back to the place she swore she’d never return.
Ripley Stone is happy running her flower shop in Jackson Point. After eight years alone, the last thing she’s expecting is the news that Alicia Burton is coming home—or the rush of feelings that come with it.
When small-town life throws them back together, Alicia and Ripley can’t face each other—but end up communicating in letters instead. As angry notes become honest confessions, the pair has to face what went wrong, and whether, after all this time, either of them has really moved on.
rant
- honestly the only reason that I saw this book through to the end was bc of the plot
- Second chance is one of my favorite tropes especially after breaking up for reasons other than cheating ‐ watching a couple come back together after realizing their life was worse when they were apart can be very sweet
- This was one of those instances that it was very sweet but I just could not get over the authors writing style
- This was one of those books were everyone is supposed to be like close to 40 but acted like they were teenagers in high school or like very young adults ‐ it had like every cliche ever in it and no character had like an original personality it was like a caricature or a person but not like a real one of that makes sense ‐ like this felt like characters in a cliche rom com hallmark / lifetime movie versus like the deep emotional realistic drama indie film that I wanted this to be (but honestly that’s on me for having unrealistic expectations)
- Also there wasn’t a lot about them trying to build a life together after they got back together as if that wasn’t one of the reasons they broke up? Like the whole book was them finding their way back to each other it neglected to actively solve the problems that broke them up in the first place if that makes sense or maybe that’s what them going to therapy was supposed to do?? but they barely started doing that at the end idk that was weird to me super super super slow paced book
- I honestly skimmed through a lot of this because it felt very annoying
- Wouldn’t read this again
