synopsis
“People are frightened, and seek those offering strength. The people need to know that there is more than one kind, and that which we offer is more than guns and tyranny.”
As daily life settles in at the EVE Witchcraft Conservatory, new opportunities, lives and love abound. Victoria and Katya’s relationship is ever-evolving, while Millie and Elise are coming to understand what it truly means to be a Bonded witch. At the same time, the school is flourishing, a place of discovery, encouragement and equality. To women and witches everywhere, Longstown has become a beacon brighter than any other.
But is it bright enough to shine through the storm rolling in from Germany?
For when Helga arrives with an announcement, she brings with her a request: help. Help that only the most famous, most powerful witches in history can provide. Agreeing means thrusting EVE directly into German politics and gaining the attention of Adolf Hitler and his growing Nazi party, while declining would go against the very principles EVE was founded on, yet keep the school safe.
EVE’s public choices may be nothing to the private ones, however. After all, its greatest secret was never going to stay that way forever…
rant
- this book was just ok ‐ lots of shit went down that I simply am not ok w/ bc it made me sad
- Why tf does everybody that Millie gets close to die?? Shit I’m actually worried about Elise at this point bc wtf it’s not fair ‐ literally my favorite characters just happen to be the ones that Millie is close to too like I’m actually for so devastated about Niamh it’s not even funny
- I honestly don’t even know what to think about Germany it was such a fucking mess ‐ bitches was like no we can’t just kill them we have to use our words after Niamh fucking gave them like a million examples about why that wasn’t a good idea ‐ and then how does it end??? w/ Katya killing everybody like bruh when will we ever learn (like I understand the concept of wanting to be peaceful & the whole “the masters tools cannot dismantle the master’s house” thing but at the same time you cannot stop a truly evil/hateful man unless u lock him up or kill him it’s just fucking facts at this point) and now Niamh and a whole bunch more ppl r dead which just sucks
- And the whole Alex situation literally wtf was that had my girl Vita in shambles ‐ was there really no better way to go about that?? & wtf she going to do take over Russia? Or go on the run forever I don’t know if I missed something but I’m really confused about y she left
- Also if Millie can shield Elise countries and a whole ocean apart from each other why can’t Elise heal Millie? Or Millie use her powers to heal other ppl like idk NIAMH? Y is the only time she gets to rest is in death? That’s kind of fucked
- I would say this was a moderately paced book bc of the whole Alex situation
- I did like the beginning and how Katya and Victoria’s relationship seems to be developing ‐ they are separated for a majority of the book tho as well as Millie and Elise
- Would read again if I was re reading the whole series
