synopsis

Doctor Anita Oliver is steadfast in her support of her patients and friends. Always reliable, always there when they need her. After a lifetime spent consulting with the FBI and working for the Seattle Police Department, Anita tumbled onto the front line of the Four Point Killer case. During those years, she helped the people she cared about through endless emotional and physical pain. Now, while the survivors grow beyond the influences of their shared trauma, and begin thriving in their newfound love and happiness, Anita endures the aftermath of the case on her own. Forever on the outskirts, can Anita relinquish the role she’s bound herself to over the years in order to embark on her own healing journey? Or will she remain the sole survivor still stuck in the rubble of a collapsed life?

  • I loved Anita, Marita, and their matching names
  • I found Anita to be the most relatable character in the series so far ‐ I like how the author showed Anita’s thought process and how she questioned everything she did bc same
  • I mean I love friends to lovers and slow burn so this was just everything I wanted in a book to be honest on the romance side ‐ and Anita’s own character arc with her patients was also just so good and emotionally impactful
  • I do wish we got a little bit more about Anita and Marita’s friendship before the start of this book ‐ like maybe just more of the letters they sent to each other or something ‐ I just felt like a piece was missing kind of because they obviously have had feelings for each other since before the start of this book and we didnt really get to see that develop
  • I appreciated the balance between the romance aspect and Anita’s relationships with the side characters in this (a.ka. Nora & Sali) ‐ I love the friendships in this series just as much as the romantic relationships so I loved watching the growth their too
  • As always I loved writing styleit was a little slow at points for me but I mean I still flew through this
  • Would 1000% read again
  • “More people’s hearts should bleed for sick people. The world would be a lot nicer to live in.” ‐ Anita
  • “No one becomes evil by accident. Something inside you had to be willing. And if you’re worried that you’re evil, chances are, you’re not willing to become it.” ‐ Marita
  • Anytime Marita comforted Anita while they were still just friends
  • Phoebe’s birth
  • Sali and Nora overcoming their fears
