synopsis
Kelli MacCabe is a no nonsense detective with a tough exterior. Only a select few know her as a loyal, loving friend. Committed to her family, her friends, and her job, Kelli puts her needs behind everyone else’s.
As a surgeon, Nora Whitmore is used to being in control. The hospital is her life and leaves room for little else. Respected by her colleagues, but misunderstood by the residents, Nora takes what she needs and keeps everyone at arm’s length. In the process, she creates unexpected enemies.
Tragedy brings them together. As chaos grows around them, the lines between them begin to blur. Despite being from different worlds, friendship grows between them, turning quickly to attraction. Will these two strong, independent women find a way to deal with their individual baggage? Or will they be overcome by it?
rant
- great book once you get into it
- It had a slow start when it came to the interactions between the two main characters
- once I go through the beginning tho I couldn’t put the book down and finished it within the day
- Honestly, I didn’t really like Nora’s character for like the first 3rd of the book ‐ however, I liked how Kelli brought out a new side to her and thawed out her ice queen vibes
- I loved Kelli right off the bat she is what had me coming back to the book after putting it down a couple of times ‐ I liked that she cussed a fuck ton and the way she spoke to Nora just differently than anybody else did
- I looovvedd the slow burn angsty dynamic they had going on so so much
- The only thing that really bothered me about this was some of the cringey phrases that Kelli would just casually say like “ass itch” and “shittastic” but it wasn’t that bad tho
- The narrator was great with the women’s voices but eh with the men’s
- I would definitely read this again and will continue the series
noted & quoted
- Anytime Kelli teased Nora
- Kelli’s mom questioning Nora at dinner
- Literally all their romantic scenes
- Nora winning her lawsuit
