synopsis

Nora Whitmore has been through the ringer both professionally and personally. Now, her life is more than she ever thought it could be, especially with Kelli McCabe in it. The walls have come down, and she is open to new people and experiences.
Kelli McCabe watched all the broken pieces of her life come together. The situation with her family settled down, and she’s right where she wants to be back at work and in Nora’s arms.

For both of them, this quiet time is just the devastating calm before the massive storm hits and brings with it the violence of a vengeful enemy and the reality of drug abuse. The chaos surrounding them exposes old wounds and individual vulnerabilities that seem to multiply when they are together. Is it too much for them to withstand? Or is what they have strong enough to overcome it all?

  • An ok sequel to the first book
  • I have so many mixed feeling about this book it confuses me
  • I obviously liked it’s pacing considering I finished it in a day
  • It was almost as angsty as the first one
  • The writing style was on par w/ the first one
  • The reason they broke up was dumb and didn’t make sense to me
  • The way that Kelli acted toward anyone who wasn’t Nora during during a majority of this was so weird ‐ She became a mega asshole out of nowhere considering how fun and playful she was in the first book ‐ if anything I expected Nora to get bitchy again and resume her ice queen vibes after the break up
  • Nora’s character was more consistent w/ her character in the last book
  • There was a lot of cliche/scripted TV drama moments in this
  • Focuses more on the romance than the crime/suspense aspect ‐ I would say like 60/40
  • I honestly don’t think I could choose which narrator I liked more ‐ they both fit the book and the characters well
  • Would read again
  • Nora going to the bar w/ Kelli & her friends
  • Kelli watching over Nora w/ Fuller on the loose
  • Make up scene duh
