synopsis
As she enters her ninth season in the North American Hockey League, Sophie’s pressure on herself to perform well has never been higher. Next season will mark a decade as the first woman in the League, a milestone no one will let her forget, especially as her expected replacement will be old enough to be drafted herself.
Sophie has the support of Coach Elison and her team behind her. She has come into her own on the ice as the captain and face of the Concord Condors. Off the ice, her life is looking good as well. She and Elsa are living together with plans to build a home, provided Concord signs them to contract extensions.
As always, though, it isn’t enough. Sophie has her eyes set on the Maple Cup, the trophy given to the best hockey team each year. She has all the motivation she needs—a contract to live up to, a personal hockey hero on the team who has never lifted the Cup before, and a need to prove herself, again, before Emily Skelton is drafted and takes the League by storm.
rant
- Great conclusion to the series ‐ I personally loved the two books I read from it lol this does make want to go back and read the whole thing through – I will eventually
- I can’t remember if I said this before but the author was really good at balancing Sophie’s personal life w/ hockey which was great bc I never really got bored reading this considering I don’t really know anything about hockey
- I liked that this had a little bit more focus on Sophie’s personal life w/ it being the final book
- I’m actually sad it’s over though 🙁 like I want a book for the next 10 seasons lmao & I want to know how many cups she won and records she broke 😭 ‐ I just feel like this would have been an absolute perfect ending if only there was like a “10 yrs later” epilogue just to like really tie up any loose ends (maybe there will be a little short story in the future?) ‐ I loved the full circle ending though I was actually going to be pissed if she didn’t win the cup this time
- Sophie and Elsa are extremely lovable characters ‐ I could pick up this book a million times just bc I love them sm and want to read about them being happy and succeeding together 🫶🏽
- I don’t know if I got used to the writing style or what but I liked it more in this ‐ the dialogue and sentences were smoother to me
- Will definitely read again
