Line Chemistry by K.R. Collins

Coming off a season of professional highs and then lows, Sophie is looking forward to a fresh new season. A season without a new coach or long-term injury. A season where everything returns to normal. But even though Sophie has recovered from tearing her ACL, she isn’t back at the top of her game yet. All her life, Sophie’s father has told her if she isn’t the best, they won’t let her play hockey. On the ice, she has to rely on her teammates more than she’s used to. She has to learn that there is a place for her on the roster, even if she isn’t setting franchise records for points scored in a single season. And off the ice, Sophie learns that some relationships go beyond hockey. She and Elsa are teammates, linemates, but their partnership is more than that. And maybe, all this time she’s been telling Elsa she wants them to be Condors for life, she’s been asking for something else.

synopsis

  • perfect short and sweet sports book w/ some romance
  • Sophie is a great main character ‐ she’s mother to everyone and I love that it’s so sweet ‐ I love that she doesn’t feed into toxic masculinity stereotypes and has a softness to her (especially when it extended to Elsa) ‐ I didn’t read the first couple of books (hopefully someday) but her going on a little self discovery journey and finally recognizing and accepting her feelings for Elsa was a good little character arc moment ‐ She’s literally like the best captain and athlete I’ve read about in a minute I loved the way she comforts and jokes w/ players that aren’t on her team
  • But Sophie girl getting someone’s number tatted on u, secretly collecting stuff for your future house together, and spooning her in bed every night didn’t hint that u liked her as more than a friend? ‐ idk I’ll have to read the first few to really understand that but 7 books and a couple of years I’m assuming is a long time to be in denial lmao but maybe she was going through it or something
  • Elsa . . . agh I just love her so much ‐ I think it bc she lowkey reminds me of Clara from Evolution (literally obsessed w/ this book rn) ‐ She’s protective over Sophie (sue me 👐🏽 but I like that shit) she’s funny and sassy in the literal best way ‐ She’s so sweet and good to Sophie even though she thought her feelings weren’t reciprocated ‐ she was ok w/ all their future plans even though she thought they would never go anywhere romantically 🥹 literally broke my heart when she said she spent sm time trying not to think about them being together bc it hurt too much ‐ she balances Sophie out perfectly too
  • The writing style wasn’t my favorite ‐ I personally like something a little more detailed and elaborate ‐ some paragraphs/scenes felt a little short or ended awkwardly but not in a way that fucks w/ the readability of it (which is the important part to me)
  • The plot was great just enough balance between sports life and personal ‐ more heavy on the sports aspect but I expected that ‐ the game scenes were written well and weren’t boring ‐ I like how they split it up into small sections it kind of read like game highlights and I liked that
  • They better win the gd Maple Cup in the next book or imma be pissed lol ‐ also Teddy better come back and idk y but I lowkey want Sophie and Elsa to slip up in front of him so somebody on the team knows
  •  Would 100% read again
  • Locker room scene
  • Bar scene
  • Olympic gold medal match
  •  Confession scene
  • Sophie beating ppl that beef w/ her (bc my girl’s too classy to beef back fr she lets the goals talk for her)
  • Sophie telling her brother about Elsa
  • Lowkey ‐ Rochelle Jordan
