☑ Notes:

  • this grew on me in the best way ‐ it started off kind of iffy and slow but I’m glad I stuck w it
  • this is far from perfect but it’s a good sci fi space opera vibe and even though the plot was simple and predictable it hooks you in
  • the writing was eh ‐ the first chapter almost had me dnf bc it started out corny to me ‐ also I personally like something more detailed and mature?? (especially in a sci fi) idk if that’s the right word ‐ so yea… I just knew we weren’t that compatible in that aspect
  • The world building was also meh ‐ the why’s are never explicitly answered ‐ like why is earth running so low on resources? bc of the war? climate change?? but also what war is it like a world war? we don’t know ‐ and why are we sending military to find these resources and not like scientists ‐ not that there aren’t scientists there I just don’t understand why they do so many drills fighting enemies when there is literally no enemies to fight?? Like I can understand there are reasons why like team work and stress reasons but why send military instead of NASAesque vibes? are we anticipating a threat and if so what?
  • now this book full fledged centers around Sarah and every other character feels like a background character in her world (even Annie and Max) so if you don’t like her or think she’s annoying well then you wouldn’t like this lol ‐ I wish there was more depth and story to the side characters ‐ I’m sure in the next book we’re going to get more POVs and that’s needed bad
  • i will say it was quite boring at times especially towards the beginning but I would say that it’s bc Sarah’s life is boring lmao and her inner monologue gets quite repetitive by the end (this is why I feel like new POV’s need to be introduced)
  • Overall I enjoyed this and I’m excited to see where she’s going to go w/ the whole black hole thing ‐ I feel like how well she executes that will determine how good this series is as a whole

☑ 1. Spacebound

  • off rip the writing… 😬 ‐ it was more so the dialogue than the narrative but i literally had to take a break and come back I wasn’t feeling it ‐ it wasn’t horrible just maybe not was i was thinking for a sci-fi ig (wanted something a little more mature/developed ‐ this feels a little rushed)
  • im still interested in the plot/premise so imma keep reading

  • this is slowly growing on me but one thing I really don’t like is that we have no background info about her relationship w/ any of the crew ‐ that kind of info is important to me ‐ my fomo doesn’t like it
  • I’m glad she’s off the station and hopefully we’re going to see something actually happen outside of trainings and petty politics??
