synopsis

When she sees a picture of a little girl who looks just like her younger self in a book about lost children, Heidi realizes she was born Hollis Richardson and that she’d been stolen from her mother. After thirty years apart, they’re finally reunited, but being kidnapped by her father has made Hollis lonely, forever changed, and wondering how she can ever forgive him for the time she’s lost with her mom.

Raleigh Leonard’s daughter was kidnapped when she was three years old. Now, over a year later, Raleigh is beginning to lose hope that she’ll ever see her again, but a detective, Dylan Easton, has agreed to help her find new leads and, hopefully, her daughter. To help her cope, Raleigh attends regular support group meetings for people like her, and that’s where she meets Hollis.

The timing couldn’t be worse for the two women, but they discover there’s something between them that’s worth pursuing, even when nothing else in their lives seems to be going right.

  • The best book in the series by far ‐ I’m wondering if I should continue w/ it or quit while I’m ahead
  • I liked that this one actually has a bit of hesitation and tension and wasn’t super fast paced in the romance & plot aspect
  • Hollis was definitely my favorite out of the two and was the one that I could relate to the most ‐ a librarian (my dream) who is mega independent & has attachment issues
  • I loved Raleigh too but I mostly just felt bad and sympathetic toward her & her situation ‐ she is obviously super strong even though she does have her breakdowns I commend her for keeping it together for the most part ‐ I honestly don’t know if I would be able to function like a normal human being if something like that happened to me
  • I loved that Hollis and her mom had an immediate connection after being reunited ‐ there wasn’t really any awkward phase and they flowed right into a comfortable relationship
  • I was absolutely devastated by the Olivia situation & shed a few tears by the end of the book ‐ like I literally couldn’t imagine my life w/o my mom shes literally immortal in my eyes and you cannot convince me otherwise lol
  • I kind of wish that they would've found Eden before the last ch. ‐ I would've liked to see more of Raleigh and Hollis' relationship w/ Eden in it
  • Would read again
  • Their trips to get coffee or shitty food together
  • Hollis helping Raleigh w/ Eden stuff
  • Raleigh helping Hollis w/ her mom stuff
  • Closure for Noah’s case
